Here in the Northwest part of Washington State, the growing season is a busy time and flowers come and go so fast it can be hard to keep up and have time enough to enjoy them while they are in full bloom. For this reason, I began drying and saving some of my favorite flowers iand putting them into potpourris or sachets. I find that I don't mind the idea of fall or winter anymore because I just bring my garden indoors!
During the month of July, the lavender bundles are available. The fresh bundles are large, as much as I can hold in my hand at one time. Lavender plants range from light lavender to dark purple and we have a few white lavender flowering plants. The shorter varieties start to bloom late June and then during July the rest of the plants are in bloom. Tall spikes usually are ready mid July.
$5.00/bundle

We are finally successful in growing catnip and now we have a great crop of it. Our two cats have always managed to find the catnip and nibble it down to a stalk before it had a chance to grow big enough to use. I use catnip in my sleep sachets but can't forget the pussy cats and how much they love to roll and play with catnip.

Lavender In Linen Sachet Bags:
The other type of lavender sachet bags that we offer are made here by us. We call them lavender in linen because the sachet bags are made from vintage linen table cloths or dresser runners that have embroidered designs on them. We try to save as much of the embroidered design as possible when we are making the sachet bags.
Because the designs are all different with different colors and flowers, we sell these as "availability" as it just depends on what we have at the time. You could specify a color combination or type of flower and we would send you the closest sachet that we have.
We collect old vintage linens for several of our projects but I think these lavender bags made out of the vintage lines are the best.
The Prices for the Lavender In Linen Sachets are
$6. small, $9. med. and $15 for the large
"Old linens with beautiful hand embroidery are too special to have sitting in a drawer, never used, or sent to the second hand store. Because many linens are either worn out, stained, or torn in places, we decided to recycle them. We use as much of the original fabric as possible, especially the embroidered parts for our sachets.
Back In Thyme appreciates the creative work of others and prefers to unite our aromatic lavender with linens, that years ago were adorned with flowers sewn by someone who used needle and thread to express their love of nature
As you enjoy the scent of your lavender sachet, please remember that a mom, grandmother, or aunt, must have sat and sewed for hours to make this also a beautiful gift of nature."
Lavender sachets are useful as well as great smelling.
